I just did a quick search on Google to see who our competitors might be once the site has been designed for phrases like ‘czech english hosting’ and ‘english czech hosting’. To my surprise this blog is right up there (although on page two or three), despite doing nothing to promote the site.
It looks like this Wordpress blog is Google-friendly at least, but does make me think that we really should keep it. That’s going to mean some extra work because the design is nothing like the latest version of the homepage. I started designing this yesterday evening, and it’s going OK so far, but it’s still very early days in the website design process.
It may seem odd to concentrate so much time on the design of the site, but I’m convinced that a striking website design, together with excellent prices will kick start this new hosting venture. I also think we should look at providing a special offer of 50% off website hosting. This would enable customers to choose between enjoying prices which compete with the cheapest hosts or upgrading their hosting package.
The Czech and English language ready templates shall have to wait until next year, which is a shame because they’re our USP really, but it’s important to get the hosting business working as soon as possible.
Looks like we’ll be playing with pixels for Christmas. Maybe, if all goes well, we can get the website hosting part of the site ready for the New Year?
